The Legislature has approved SB (Senate Bill) 139, which requires all Oklahoma public schools to prohibit student use of personal electronic devices during the school day. Therefore, we must make changes to our Personal Electronic Devices policy (FNG).
Effective July 1st, 2025, all students will be expected to keep electronic devices turned off and out of sight during the instructional day (First Bell to Last Bell).
This includes:
Cell Phones
Smartwatches/ Smart glasses
Ipods/Ipads or similar devices
Headphones/earbuds
Any personal device that connects to the internet or cellular network
Emergency use of electronic devices are allowable to:
Call 911 to report an emergency
Report Natural Disasters (tornados, fires, lockdowns, etc…)
Monitor a medical health issue (glucose, etc…)
Students found to be using a personal electronic device in violation of the rules shall be subject to disciplinary action and the device may be confiscated by the administration of the school district. Any personal wireless communication device that is confiscated will be returned to the student or parent at the end of the school day. Punishment for violation will be determined by the administration
1st Offense- 3 days Lunch detention- student may pick up their phone from the office at the end of the day.
2nd offense- 3 Days In School Detention- student/parent may pick up their phone from the office at the end of the day.
3rd offense- 3 Days Out of School Suspension- parent must pick up the phone from the office between 3:30pm-4:00pm
4th offense- Parent Meeting to discuss options
